Not true. I can think of several uncles, my dad's law partner, family friends who were all heavy and certainly appeared in family photos. That was late 40's through the 60's. The speculation that they didn't exist is by someone who wasn't alive in those days and has no firsthand knowledge. They are trying to make an invalid point that somehow people were healthier in those days.
What you did not see are these jumbo men and women I see these days who have got to weigh 400lbs. It is a wonder they can walk around and of course they all have handicapped placards and are on disability.
