I have a friend that worked at and retired from the GM proving grounds in Arizona he would disagree with you about planned obsolescence not engineered. That in fact is one of the many things he worked on there.
He told me they could almost predict the exact date of failure of some components.
I'll take his word for it. He worked at it and had no reason to make anything up.
That's nothing. In California cities where the citizens have to step over human feces among other things like needles they're claiming it's racist to hose the side walks off...But hey, what (and who) isn't racist these days?
And of course the Dodge Brothers made the transmissions for all these Oldsmobiles.
