There's no hydraulics in there. It's all mechanical. At least 2 men worked that machine all day. An operator and an oiler. There are most likely cat walks all around the inside just for the oiler.
The engineering and the mechanics, not to mention the noise going on inside that shed to make that thing work is in itself amazing.
I think that dapper dude is on to something, look at the big grins on those girls faces

Rootie, I think this must be Doc Cossey who was a top midget driver in the Houston area right after WWII. I'm not sure about this car but at one point Cossey drove for A.J. Foyt, Sr.
And I think the second attached shot may be Frank Armi in a Joe Scopa built car. I don't think the car ever managed to qualify at Indianapolis but Eddie Sachs, among others, drove it on the mile dirt tracks several times.
