Three heroes blast around Sacramento in 1962. Jim Hurtubise, Parnelli Jones, and Don Branson. Herk finished 4th, Parnelli 5th, and Branson 2nd. Some guy named Foyt won! Mario Andretti poses with car owner, Wally Meskowski, on the left, before a 1966 USAC sprint car race. Mario ran 19 sprint car shows that year and won five of them. the young charger was just getting started. Wally was an excellent builder, mechanic and car owner. He could do it all. Would sure love to know what's being said between Mario and AJ in this shot from the Hoosier Hundred. AJ looks upset, and someone is trying to calm him. Mario's twin, Aldo, is laughing, and Mario seems to be on the verge. This might be the year that AJ lost to Mario because his brake pedal broke with two laps to go while leading. when Foyt told him that, Mario asked AJ why he needed brakes!!?? Bill Marvel trying to do the interview. Tony Hulman behind AJ. Two icons race at Milwaukee. Bill Vukovich takes the low line as he battles with Jack McGrath at Milwaukee in 1954. the car Vuky's driving had been driven by Jimmy Bryan in the 1954 500, finishing 2nd to Vuky. But, the car had started to fall apart, losing its shocks among other things. Jimmy was so beat up after the 500, that he collapsed on the garage floor after being helped out of his car. Unable to drive at Milwaukee the next weekend, Vuky agreed to take the ride. He put it on the pole and led until falling out with steering problems. Jack finished 4th. Check out Vuky's arms!
Donkey Ball was a big thing when my kids were in grade school in the 70's and 80's. They talked me into riding one time. Got my ass throwed of three or four times but I did make two baskets. The next year when they came around I was a little smarter, told them this dumb ass was staying off those dumb asses

AJ was always pissed off when he lost...Especially when one of his cars ran out of fuel at INDY..That was priceless.
