When Turnipseed was asked by the CHP why he made a left turn on a two lane highway in front of on coming traffic, his response was that he did not see the Porsche because it was low and gray. Turning into on coming traffic is not and never has been a legal excuse for a collision, especially one in which a person died. It's important to understand that Turnupseed's Ford hit the Porsche, not the other way around. The primary damage to the Ford was on the driver's side front end. The Ford hit the Porsche just in front of the driver's side front wheel on the Porsche, he turned into the Porsche. There was no collision damage to the front of the Porsche. As to how fast was Dean's Porsche going when the cars collided, several companies specializing in auto crash reconstruction technology estimate the speed of the Porsche at between 65 and 70 MPH. The speeding ticket he had gotten before the crash was for going 65 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.
Ah nope not true. One entering a highway has the obligation to ensure the path is clear of traffic before entering the said highway ALWAYS.
