Kathy Kohner and her Long Board at Malibu Beach, CA. The original "Gidget".

Life was simpler back then, in the 1950's, and the beach front homes in Malibu were a lot smaller than the mansions that are there now. When this photo was taken, she was just a girl with a surfboard. Her dad wrote a story about his daughter, Kathy, who her male surfer friends called "Gidget" (short for girl midget) and a movie studio bought the script, and the rest is history. Kathy is 80 years old (Kathy Zuckerman now).

Bottom photo is a prototype. Kind of like seeing a 55 T-Bird with the Vee side chrome like the production full sized car...
