  6. Vice President Nixon and the marketing campaign of Amoco against polio

Vice President Richard Nixon, a one time service station attendant, went back in the business briefly today to help the March of Dimes campaign it its drive against polio.

The Vice President spent a short time servicing cars at a gas station which contributed its day's profits to the campaign. Here, he 'services' the car of five year old Carol Vitiello, a polio victim.

This is Suzy Dietrich, she was a school librarian and racing driver who competed in the 1950s and 1960s.

The raced extensively in regional Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) races driving everything from an MG TC (pictured) to Elvas and Porsches.

Suzy claimed a slew of victories throughout her career as well as podium and points finishes.

In 1966 she entered the 24 Hours of Daytona driving a Sunbeam Alpine with Janet Guthrie and Donna Mae Mims. The trio became the first women's team to finish an international-standard 24 hour race.

During her career she raced at Watkins Glen International, Sebring, Daytona, and many other circuits around North America – often trailering her car to events with her husband.
