This '64 SS belonged to the parents of my brother-in-law.
Hip parents, I'd say. North Riverside, Illinois.

Yeah .. quite a change from a 35 knot 2250 destroyer. Went from Hueneme to Long Beach once. Took 3 days.

This ('58?) belonged to the parents of a high school classmate. Lemont, Il.,
    approximately 1964.

  14. Sorry edited out the borders when I scanned them. My first ever exposure to drag racing. Dad took the pictures.

  15. Some oldies from my Grand Mother's collection. My Grandfather is in every one of them. He passed before I was born. I inherited his fondness for cars.

  16. I was given these pictures by a gentleman who owned a vintage car and memorabilia dealership. I've actually seen shots in the 60's Hot Rods and Customs thread where this car is in the background. My dad knew the builder's sister. Funny how things come to light years later.

  17. That car would be a great build today, good lines an stance. BigO

    The '52 coupe on a trip to visit old navy buddy - 1971 Dec 12 2019 015.JPG
'54 Bel Air 2 door fixed up for Norm McLeod .... sure would like to know what he did after leaving SLC ... Dec 12 2019 016.JPG 1980 ... '56 Plymouth Suburban, cheapest one in the line. Strange vehicle ... 277 OD, pushbutton radio, & backup lights were the only options on it when I got it. It must have gotten the '55 "Sportone # 2" side trim added by the dealer so somebody would even look at it. I put a '56 Dodge wonder bar in it, Magnum 500s, Michelins, duals with '50 Chev truck glasspacks, chromed all the garnish moldings, tuck & roll seat, left hand shift lever, Belvedere taillights, grille trim & windshield moldings. Found a Weiand 4 bbl. intake & used a Pontiac AFB on it. It was for sale on here a few years ago for $18,000 (!)
Dec 12 2019 018.JPG '52 Fleetline I used to own, about a year after I traded it off ... it was in better hands since it had been sitting dead for over 20 years. Dec 12 2019 028.JPG Here's what I traded the fastback for as delivered ... Dec 12 2019 012.JPG Here's a few shots of it getting a new coat ... One of a pair of Diamond T 201 pickups I traded into around 1995. Funny story - it cost me a '41 Chev Coupe Pickup to get them. When I got the Chev 10 years before the trade, there was a trans complete with the vacuum shift stuff laying on the seat, so I figured that was why it died ... the gent who got the car called me the day after we traded to tell me he had just driven it around his yard. I asked him if that trans on the seat fixed it, and he said it didn't need a trans, the one in the car was fine. The one on the seat was a spare .... '50 88 convert that led a hard life. Must have gone through a dozen owners before a friend of mine bought it & put his mom's '52 98 engine in it after rebuilding it in auto shop. A year later, he joined the Air Force and I bought it for the engine to put in my '50 88 wagon. Took me a year to give the body away ... that was 1969. Pretty sure the first one is older than ‘56 and the last 4 don’t look that old but are on Velox paper which was last made in ‘68 so at least they're vintage copies.
