had one of those in the 60's when i was a kid. Rolled it a few times after dad changed pulleys around. After the 2nd time, we got into dirt bikes. Had another one when my kids were small, except for lowering the front I left it stock. Sold it to a HAMB member and now with grandkids I'd like to find another.
Back in the early 60's this was the hot engine everyone wanted to use. On the East Coast there were still not a lot of kart tracks in operation as most of the them were in California. The Blitz Kart Stadium on Long Island was a great track. Jones Beach parking lot on Sunday mornings was also used for many years. In the 60's the everyone belonged to the International Kart Federation which was based in CA. so when you received the monthly magazine is was all about kart racing in the Western States and really nothing on the East Coast but in the early 70's many of the karter's became tired of reading a monthly magazine about kart racing out west. That is when a group of my friends and a few guys from Florida decided to start the World Karting Association and everything changed after that for the better for karting on the east coast. Jimbo
MeCulloch was a great company to deal with and if you were racing and using their engines they supplied you with with all kinds of Free stuff like tee shirts, posters, helmet bags, and even Free parts. I still have every poster they ever send me along with a very old McCulloch lettered helmet bag. I ran McCulloch engines in a stock class and in A-Open Lite with two Tillotson Carbs for many years. I still have the jacket from Sugar River Raceway from back in the 60's if my old memory is correct. It is white and say's Sugar River Raceway Home of the Blackhawk Kart Klub Brodhead, WI on the back. Jimbo

Starting to come together, found a guy in California that has been a big help with a few things that I needed. Should be almost completed by next Spring. Trying to get as much history as I can get about Wahlborg Quarter Midgets. I’ve learned that there is a 300 & 500 model and the company was located in California. Anybody else messing with these? A friend of mine who just passed away had this go cart and I am trying to find a little bit of information on it the bottom of it is aluminum and the top is fiberglass it has an h on the steering wheel just curious if anyone has any Information about these carts
Can’t help with that. Between 56’and 64’ everybody was building them it seems. Nice where you put the fuel in that QM. Good fortune to you getting the history. My quess is it will be one of the lesser known Quarter Midgets. Which isn’t a bad thing. Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Nice find, it’s looks like its been Hibernating too long. Those things were a blast to race. Want to sell it?
