Anyone out there into vintage car haulers? I have a 1959 Chevrolet hauler built to haul drag cars sometime in the late 60's.
Well I think that ramp trucks are cool as wellas old tuggers. I don't own a ramp truck but I do own a ton '62 C-10 that I may build into a ramp truck someday.
Couple more photos. I love the home made winch made with a Chevy starter, flywheel and an old lug wrench.
This old hauler spend most Sundays for the past 45 years visiting Beech Bend Raceway park in Bowling Green, Ky as well as other Ky/Tn area strips. It hauler a B Stock 66 427 Biscayne, a 67 Corvette 427 SS car, a 68 Camaro SS car and many others including a 2 wheel drive pulling truck at some point in the 80's. It started life as a 59 GMC 3/4 ton and was stretched and the custom hauler bed built. Front end converted to Chevy. It has a 69 Chevy 350, 89 Chevy 5 Speed added in the 90's, a 59 Impala steering wheel(the orange one just added as the original one it ran for decades was removed and sold separately before I got the truck). It has a Cadillac seat that I remember was mint back in the 80's. I knew of this hauler all of my life and always wanted it. It took a couple decades of trying to finally get it. It sat for most of the last decade before I got it this past April. I now have it running and road worthy again and plan to drive it as it for a couple years while I collect parts for a full restoration as the door, fendersm etc are pretty rusty. It drives great for a old truck and runs down the interstate at 80 no problem. A little slow to stop though.
It loaded that heavy 66 Biscayne for 30 years. The guy that used this said it would load anything or break the cable. Very strong, but of coarse it only loads. You have to unload with the cars brakes.
We have a 58-59 Viking flatbed located in Mo. Originally thought I could take it on & turn it into a car hauler , But health issues seem to be hampering me {Getting old Sucks} I keep thinking of the little train that said I Think I Can
Larry, Lets see a photo of that 58 59 Viking. They are great trucks. I want to find a nice old grain truck to go along with my hauler. The 55 to 66 Chevy's just look great.
Here's another old 59 Chevy Car Hauler I owned back in the 80's. Don't have it anymore. It may not have survived. It didn't have the wheelbase that my current one has and therefore didn't handle well fully loaded. Still wish I had it back.
I'll play! I dont know if you want these here, as they are not real, only a kids rendering. But here they are! To to bottom: Jeep FC, IH R190, GMC 'Cracker box', Dodge CT900, '59 Ford F350. Jake S. Shotgun Rod & Kustoms
We should have some pics as soon as this Missery weather clears he is delivering a load of firewood Larry
Its a 40 Willys I found in a barn about 20 years ago. Slowly building it into a gasser. Sat in a leaky garage from 1952 to 1996.
