The number is in three locations on top of the left (driver's side) frame rail. The only one you can see is somewhere between the front crossmember and firewall. Location varies because they were stamped by hand. The other two are only visible with the body off the frame--about midway along the length of the chassis, and on the arch over the rear axle. If the car still has its original transmission, the same number will be found on the bell of the trans case above the clutch inspection window.
