Spent the day removing all the side stainless and every part off and out of the roof and it is amazing how many parts there are....remember this is only a shoebox. first step of going to the body man this week.
Well the last day of 2011 and the Vicky is at the body shop so probably in a couple of months (crossing fingers) we will see her in the glory she has become. I will keep updates and pics for you guys. Happy New Year.
Just got caught up from March. You sure make it look easy, Skip. Jealous of you hardcore car guys with the skill & experience from years of wrenching. Some of us are old spectators who are trying to make the leap to do-ers . . . You are one of the inspirations. You say "Need to run the brake lines" and a few days later you are on to the next thing. I say "Need to run the brake lines" and 3 months later I am mostly done, moving on to the next thing while leaving a few loose ends. Inspiring . . . Beautiful . . . oh, and what y'all did for your daughter? It is so great when the people behind the machine turn out to be as beautiful as the machine . . . well done Mark & Kelly!!
The paint will undoubtedly be tits...but I can't wait to see WHAT color(s) it emerges with. And I haven't busted the balls of those who know, either
With a car that has this much beautiful metal work done to its almost a shame to cover it with paint!! For all the gorgeous work you have already done to it I have all the faith that you will pick a color/colors for the car that will make it a standout. It has all the makings of being one of those cars that will become one of the great ones that people will still be admiring and talking about and coping from it for a long time to come. Thats what sets this type of custom amoung the great ones and it has a great story to match the outstanding craftsmanship.
Sorry guys...I have let the thread lapse due to overwhelming circumstances have taken over....I am back in the swing and should have an update over the weekend....it is another metalwork update replacing the rockers and lower front fender sheetmetal.....also getting real close to bodywork then paint.......colors?????
Glad to see you're on the up and up Skipper! Time heals all wounds....and if it doesn't, then some hard work on a soon to be famous custom should help a bit. Colors? I thought we had this nailed down? I still am partial to the Photoshops I did for ya
Thanks JJ.....Marty's Hot Rods of Fresno is taking care of replacing the rockers and fender repair, he is almost done......Marty will also be doing the bodywork and two tone paint......gonna be sweet. Ladyshifter told me to get back to business and think positive.
Ladyshifter knows best!!! Can't wait to see it with all the sheetmetal fixed!! Side note, I bought my '54 the week my father passed away in 2007 (he was 54) and even thought I haven't started on it, that car has a special place in my heart because where I was at that time in my life when I bought it. In fact even my '33 has a special place because I got it the day my son was rushed to the hospital. I think the Vicky is going to do the same for you. You're going to know that this is where you were at in your life when you Momma met the good lord. And it was because of her parenting and love that you are where you're at this very moment.....which is finishing up one of the greatest cars of this generation for you and your wife......but more your wife. Keep us posted...
