  1. This is one sick ride! I like the green and cream combination, or maybe even a cranberry and cream. Regardless of the color you pick, it is sweeeeet!

Talked with Andrew today and he told me about the posts. Amazing work you have done, glad he twisted your arm to take it on.

"Skip, I just can't see this car in a light, bright color...this would allow the car's classic lines and perfect proportions to be seen and appreciated, rather than being overpowered by eyeball-searing color."

Oh, I don't know...I kinda like my eyeballs seared.

    Love this one too!

This one is really cool. Reminds me of Teddyp's '49 Chevy with what seems to be a lot more metallic.

I know you already have the straight, simple trim on the car.. but have you considered '55 Pontiac side trim? I love the way it looks on a shoebox. And it could give some interesting options for two- and three-tones. Just a thought.

I'm thinking this car looks best in muted or pale tones, like pale yellow, baby blue, white, silver, black, etc. That white/baby blue/white version is outstanding. You really can't go wrong! Great job-

  13. Very spot on!!!!! Do ya have anymore in progress pics of the chop. What are the figures? Nicest chop ive seen on a Vicky yet!

  14. Wow Skip...when you mentioned this "secret" project I had no idea, but then that's the point of a secret project:rolleyes:

There's something that always grabs me a customs that have a vibe of a concept car. When the radical touches sneak up on you, rather than kick you in the balls. When everything from the height, to the chop, is just right rather than a little too much. The proportions you have there are what most people shoot for...just perfect.

I don't envy you on the color decision. I really like the yellow/black as a nod to the mid-1950's Fords, but this deserves something more aggressive for the time period. I think there's a perfect color combo hiding in the mix in #161 above...I like the nod to the Larry Earnst Chevy for sure.

    I'll be following anxiously...

    Todd

Did ya get the gaskets I sent?

Any news on a color yet?

    How's the body work coming?

Gonna have an unveiling of my own in a few days time. :D

I've resigned myself to the fact that it's not going to be quite as awe inspiring as this thread was though.

Thank you so much for the gaskets......Color? I am hoping Weesner gets on here because his opinion to me will be very valuable on color.

No worries man, just wanted to make sure they made it.

Honestly, I think this is one of those cars that'll look damned good, pretty much no matter what color it gets painted.

I'm still partial to the green, but that one dark blue two tone that was posted a while back is pretty sweet too.

The tough thing about chopping a '51 Victoria, in my opinion, results from the drip rail running around over the top of the windshield. When the side windows are cut just enough (as yours are), the windshield looks like it's chopped too much -- like a '40 Merc or a shoebox woody. Have you considered raising the top of the windshield all the way up to the drip rail, so it's more nearly the same height as the side windows?

    Well done, Rik!

  29. Mr Miller you spoke for me. I was concerned about the fat forehead affect caused by the Victoria roof design. Rik demonstrated the fix well.

More work, well, maybe. Ah, the trials and tribulations of building a custom!
