LOL I read the title and thought he meant this : And my brain said, "OMG Not Seb, anybody but Seb!!!!!" I went to Circus Circus on Orange Sunshine once, that was fun. But we are both getting a little long in the tooth for that. This would be a trip if you were a gear head and had the cash. I think these SNORE still sponsors a vintage off road race there. Oh have fun and keep safe.
Oh! oh! oh! Do the "be a dozer / excavator operator " thing. Sent from my SM-G550T using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
shelby museum was worth the trip, even to a chevy guy like me. couple of "don'ts" the hotels/casinos frown upon skinny dipping in the pools after hours and they really hate any swimming in the fountains in front. also not all the girls are girls, be careful. always a great time at Ted's place..........but you don't know him.
Seb, if you like HAMB stuff and get over near Hoover take an extra half day and go a few miles south on 95, then east on State 165 toward Nelson and tour the Techatticup gold mine in Eldorado Canyon. Great folks and lots of cool old $#it to look at. Tell Tony and Joe Beck "Hey" from Boise for us too.
Go to Goldfield, NV where Vanishing Point was filmed, about an hour and a half north of Vegas. Looks just the same as in 1971 when the movie was shot. "Like wow man"
Aw yeah, Vanishing Point! Classic. And there goes the Challenger, being chased by the blue, blue meanies on wheels. The vicious traffic squad cars are after our lone driver, the last American hero, the electric centaur, the, the demi-god, the super driver of the golden west! Two nasty Nazi cars are close behind the beautiful lone driver. The police numbers are gettin' closer, closer, closer to our soul hero, in his soul mobile, yeah baby! They about to strike. They gonna get him. Smash him. Rape... the last beautiful free soul on this planet
Good simple BBQ and coffee shop off the strip @ Ellis Island Casio a little beat up old style hole in the wall but great food
Cirque shows are great, all of them. Don't waste money on bus tours to Hoover dam or Grand Canyon better off doing it on your own. You can stay as long as you like and not be subjected to all the tourist traps Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Bingo. (OT yes), the movie "vanishing Point", classic hippy freaky car movie, they filmed a white '70 Challenger R/T heading towards a bulldozer then just before it hits, they cut in film of the car they actually destroyed while filming; a white '69 Camaro, which was like a "body double". Clevon Little (Blazing Saddles) is a groovy DJ that goes off on weird live on-air jazz poetry rants about a spacy dude running from the cops and eventually intentionally smashes himself into this roadblock. (after seeing it 20 times, I still don't understand why he does that) I just like cheesy movies, the post about Vanishing Point got me amped. Sorry. Carry on. Just ignore me...hey is that a '32 Ford over there?
I definitely have a hard time telling 67-69 Camaros apart, I had always heard it was a '69, but I guess there would be gills and side markers if it were? My bad
The '67 and '68 are almost identical except the '67s have vent windows and the '68s don't. They changed the body somewhat for '69 and that's the best body style of any year Camaro in my opinion....
the quarter panel is shaped different between 68-69, and the 68 has a side marker light, 67 does not. It's kind of like watching the rollover scene in AG, somehow the 55 got a small block and a TH400 for that occasion.
When ever I go to Vegas I spend a day out at the race track, there are a lot of small shops that build cars out there, also take a tour of Carrol Shelby's facility. I have also toured the Atomic Testing Museum, (very interesting) a walk through exhibit starting with the Manhattan Project and going through the 50s and 60s. On Thursdays they used to run a buss out to the desert where you can look around at ground zero.
Heading home tomorrow, some long days. Liked stuff out of the gambling areas. Too bad that even though the casinos are 24 hrs the cars in the Linq was 9 to 5 so missed them by few min. Will post things up when I get home.
Monday was sort of a bust trying to find things although the wife and her son had no trouble finding the crap tables! In our roaming around saw the big ball ferris wheel, chickens didn't want to take a ride and inspected the monorail..They hit the crap tables and I went to freemont st...Tues went to Spring display and Nevada state museum which was pretty interesting and at nite I went to freemont st, didn't find Ted but took pic of the best when had a clear shot....
Wednesday after wasting 3hrs so the kid could get a new phone at Walmarts we went to the Hoover Dam driving down rt 147 by Lake Mead...Had to buy a pass for federal land but it doesn't get you into the dam since it is neither state nor gov place but an "attraction" but good for everywhere else that is a national treasure..What a marvel the Dam is, I have seen many videos of the build and its still a wonder in person...I got out voted to wait an hour for the big tour so had to settle for the 2/3ds tour, the tour guide Eno was a riot..Pics don't relay the proportions as well as I thought so not posting many, just have to go there!! Got back to the city and had supper at the Main Street Station buffet with the whole crew, then they gambled and I went to Freemont st...
They used to take you inside the dam, then 15 years ago they got all antsy and that stopped. It is a wonder to behold, either way.
LOL.. I only took the above pic cause it was a clear shot...There was guys dressed as the group Kiss, casino show girls, couple young guys painting pics with spray cans and crumpled paper [very nice, mostly landscapes], statue posers, guys in mankinis and so on....Over head lighting display was pretty far out and the zip lines for the flyers..
Thursday when we rose I reminded the wife that we didn't go to the Techatticup gold mine in Eldorado Canyon because we got to the dam so late [her kids' fault] so I insisted we go...The kid didn't want to go [whined about spending a day in the car] so off we went...Didn't take long at 80, Jane said 47 min and she was pretty close..Along the highways on both sides about 50' off the pavement were about 12-18" high wire fence..I figured it was to keep something off the road but a rabbit could jump it, coyotes and larger could just step over it and a snake could go through it; we ruled out frogs..We get there and meet Tony [husband] and Bobby [wife]..My wife asked Tony what the fence along the road was for; he said he never saw a turtle that could jump a 12" fence..Desert Turtles and had a skeleton of one; didn't see that coming! The mine tour was hour and change away so we looked around and drove down rt 165 towards the colorado river where it ends at an overlook..used to be a state marina but got washed away in a flash flood...Enough typing, some pic hi lights ..System is getting slow so I'll ad a little more tomorrow..
