I caught Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry a couple weeks back. It was on AMC or something like that, so it still gets shown from time to time, thats the first time I had seen it in years.
Loved VP....a classic film ! I felt the original was better than the remake (as always) but some parts of the remake have great cinematography, esp out in the desert chase scene with the black 68 Charger R/T. Everytime I see MoPar muscle get trashed in films, I C R I N G E !! Not to hijack but these films are great BECAUSE of the MoPars in them...I have a weakness for muscle MoPars haha !! Dukes Of Hazzard Dirty Mary Crazy Larry Blade & Blade II Bullitt Vanishing Point Running On Empty (Aussie) Death Proof The California Kid Nash Bridges Chrsitine the Blues Brothers Two Lane Blacktop Cannonball Duel Fireball 500 Hot Rod '79 Vertigo Natural Born Killers Sure there are others, can't think of em now. Rat
My biggest impression after watching is that this guy died for something he believed in, that meant something to him that most other people didn't care about. My funny feeling comes from the implication that in the real world I call my life, there was a time when no-one would have cared, thought it was wrong, or tried to stop him. I think it's a connection with the character and a realized sense of loss. Is VP a tragedy or a celebration of something great that has been lost? or is it both? That's what's cool about loosley defined plots coupled with great actors. A movie or a song can mean so much more to everyone than it even meant to it's creator. It's like the director is communicating in ways he isn't even aware of.
