As an old fart who loves hot rodding history, I gotta say this puppy tops the list !!!! I only wish it was mine.... The 216 was built by Harry Warner, and is a very low production number..... Wayne.jpg

  4. I collect Ford FE VC's but here is a set of my favorites. I've got close to 100 sets of FE VC's.

This pair are from the iconic "Full House" deuce built by Jim Inglese. I had them on the 283 but they have since been returned to the office wall until I can build my tribute to the FH. Just about the only thing I own that I won't part with.

I have a pair of those that I have had for decades. I agree they are very cool.
I sold a NOS set of these a couple of years ago:

Yes, they are factory but the Breather openings are welded shut and they are powder coated.

Straightened, blasted, painted, and wiped the raised letters with acetone. Then followed up with a black paint pen. Has held up for a couple of years. 20210725_202341.jpg

@DDDenny I never noticed this oil filler flip cap before. Love it! Loooks like they were made for it to go there.

Had to go back and hunt one of mine. Cheapo chrome steel with decals. Simple.

upload_2022-7-13_4-25-17.png 1959 Valley Home Service SBC FED

    Hello,

In 1959 those guys that had a finned SBC valve covers either polishcd the whole thing, except for the area between the fins, or they painted the deep valleys a matching color of the motor, car or a contrasting color. The record setting FED of Valley Home Services was an outstanding racer and the build could be in any car show events.
    1959 Riverside Raceway

In late 1959, we purchased a long block 283 SBC motor and polished the outside portion of the aluminum valve covers. We left the knurled/casting surface between the polished fins. By early 1960, we had gotten our hands on a newly designed Isky Gilmer 671 blower drive kit for an SBC motor. So, a total rebuild was necessary and looked similar to this photo.
    upload_2022-7-13_4-33-30.png
The Valley Home Services SBC FED race car had a piercing blue overall color design. The valve covers had the valleys painted blue with polished outer areas and tops of the fins.

Not only was the Valley Home Services SBC FED a good looking show quality race car, it was fast, too.
