I want to use a vacuum gauge to test/tune on my engine with single downdraft 97. The carb has no vacuum port, nor does the intake manifold. I can drill and tap into the neck of the intake just below the carb to put in a vacuum port.

Is this as good as a location as any to do this, or is there a preferred location for a vacuum port?

    Thanks in advance.

phred, Yes, put it lower than the carb base. That will provide manifold vacuum. That is what you want for tuning. Normal Norman
