V8A sedan channel

  1. I'm building a 29 A 2 door on a brookville roadster A fame with a two inch kick in the rear. 8 inch ford rearend with splint wishbones. Front is splint wishbones with 4 inch dropped axle. '51 flathead w/ 3 twos. My plan is to channel it 4 to 5 inches. I'm a virgin at this. I'm seeing the term subframe used. Am I right in assuming this is the entire inner bodyframe or just portions of it? I'm planning on bracing the body and then cutting the "subframe" along the frame rails and then reattaching at the desire height. What about at the cowl. Lower portion of the firewall is removed but all the supports are in place. Looking for advise on channeling........

Your on the right track, basicly you remove the entire floor, rocker panel-to-rocker panel. Then you notch the firewall the desired depth, and place the body back over the chassis. Square everything up, and fab a way to hold it there.
Then you begin to fab your floor around your trans, driveshaft, etc. and weld it to the body.

  3. Thanks for the advise.........
