I recently purchased a '31 model A running gear complete except for the steering column and box. It still has the mechanical brakes as well as all the other original standard "stuff". Knowing that I am going to put juice brakes on it and well as have to acquire the steering components as I go along, picking up a "donor" car only made sense. My question is, is whether or not a '47 is almost too late a model to use. I am pretty certain the brake parts will move with a little effort. The steering would mean a change to cross steer as I understand it. Looking for advise and I'm sure there is plenty out there for this "Old" newbie. Yes, either car is older than I am be a little bit.
42 will have window surround chrome, not sure on ribbed beltline... 46 will have ribs in the beltline chrome... has window surround chrome... 47 has smooth beltline, and no window surround chrome... 48 has smooth beltline, no w s /c, and no locking steering wheel... all 4 use cross steering... all 4 front suspensions should be very close ... hope it helps...
