Hey guys anyone have any knowledge on the different grades of upholstery foam?

I’m going to be re-doing the foam seat cushions for the bomber seats in my RPU.

The guy who did my cushions used general purpose 4” foam and it’s not going to stand up to use like it should.
It’s already starting to break down after 1500 kilometres of use.

Whats the proper type of foam to use for the seat cushions?
I have taken apart minivan seats before and the foam in them was much denser.

I’m wondering what is the proper grade of foam to use for the cushions that will have no springs, just the 4” of foam and a 1/2” of foam in the top pleats.

Something with a little comfort but also something that won’t be destroyed quickly in use.

I’ve seen a variety of different foams used but have no idea what to use.

Here’s some pictures of some pale blue foam, I’ve never seen anything like it.

  3. There may be a foam store in your nearest large city.I had to do my 55 Chevy truck seat, and the local foam shop explained the different qualities of foam, and talked me out of going cheap. 15 years on the seats still nice.

Foam is in short supply and I'm sure the price has gone up as well.

Yeah, best to go to a big city. So head south about 180 miles and you'll be OK! LOL

Here in Cincinnati we have Sunshine Foam https://www.sunshinefoam.com/
I have bought foam here since I was a teenager, so close to 50 years. They were great for recommending whatever grade you needed.
