Just wanted to share some updates to our 49 ford coupe. Lowered the front about 3 inches, installed a vintage edelbrock 3 deuce intake with a trio of 94's, a Joe hunt lookalike (had good luck so far) white wires, a bull nose, moon gauges and a moon tach. 20161009_183148.jpg 20160626_150051.jpg

Nice ride. I have a '49 too. What distributor is that? Did you do 12 volt conversion? Mine has a Holley 4bbl on it with the original distributor. Runs ok but looking for ideas to make it better.

The stock loadomatic distributor has only vacuum advance and only works correctly with a carb designed for a loadomatic. Best to swap the distributor for an aftermarket or Chevy conversion with mechanical advance.

  8. Great looking '49. Love it. Unfortunately I've heard some bad reports about the Joe Hunt look-alike distributors. Hope you have good luck with yours.

So far so good.. only issue we had and I'm not sure if it has to do with the distributor, is that last time I drove it, it was in od. I went to open all 3 deuces and the car just bogged down and quit. Not sure if it was the Joe hunt or not. As it didn't start with the stock distributor either. Oh. Also when I floored it, it triggered the kick down switch. So now rewiring the whole car. It was wired for 12v when we got it but looked like a fire hazard.

A Joe hunt look alike distributor. And yes it's been rewired for 12v.
