To start off, you have a 21-stud flattie with heads that take waterpumps, stock-appearing axle, wishbone from a '35 Ford-up, quarter panels that are coupe/cabriolet. Depending on what you choose to do, a top from a '28-'29 could be refitted to have a coupe, but otherwise it will always be a coupster which also depends on what your budget is. Price seems a little steep for what is there, just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Haven't been on here in awhile, looks like this thread has had a lot of attention. Sorry for no response. As far as the mill, I am going the flathead route. The guy I bought the coupster from has two 8ba's for sale. I just haven't had the time to pick them up. But the flathead in the car right now would need extensive machine work to get it back into shape. I'd rather drop my money into at later model 8ba than a 21 stud.

I know that having a flathead powered hot rod is not a walk in the park. And I know it takes twice as much money to build one compared to sbc. But I have always been fascinated by them and I am dead set on building something with a flatty.

Well I tore the banjo rearend apart and found one axle welded to rear hub and a cracked carrier. Decided to sell the spoke wheels and brake components.

Those brake drums go for healthy money on ePay these days. I'd consider pulling them to sell them separate.

I've seen them go for $5 and get turned right around for 10x that easy. I saw them going for $150+/pr not long ago. I'm seeing only a single out there right now for $60 OBO (with shipping, $110 all in).

You can get the solid drums from Mac's, but the vented ones are not reproduced that I know of. I think they call them Rocky Mountain drums, at least the Model A ones, and they were a step up because they were cast iron.

So are these earlier model brake drums? I was under the impression around 35-36

Yours, no, they're finned and I believe those are 35 up. I have no idea if they can work with juice brakes or if it's just the restoration crowd that buys them up.

Bought two 8ba's and another 41 banjo yesterday. The blue one rocks back & forth but wont turn over. The other one is frozen solid. Pulled the plugs on the blue one and the combustion chambers look good.

Had no luck freeing the stuck piston. Do I beat it out will big hammer. Ruined the piston. But the cylinder looks great. Chased it with a dingle berry hone.

Found a f2 locally that has what appears to be a 8cm Merc motor. I will drag this home tomorrow and find out more. I really like these brakes, they are just cool (no pun intended).

I can remember Mrs beaner striking this pose, minus the gloves. That was before her shoulders started failing on her. Those were good days for us, this thread has value just for this memory if for no other reason.

    Thanks

Benno, is that you wife, shock.
Are you sure it ain't your daughter? Lol

Abd a third wote for the SBF/SBC in the truck. What a nice truck. Even consider a GMC 305 V6 just to try something weird and funny, that you don't see on ever street corner!
