Those skirts frigggin rock, great idea man. Car looks really really great. Ill bet you are going to get "Merc" a ton! Is the rear window laid down at all or stock location?

I think the lighter color showed off the body lines better whereas dark colors hide those nice subtle lines too much.
Besides, there is already a nice, dark green chopped Hudson running around the West Coast.
I thought it looked great in the silver grey.
p.s. Nice job on the rear fender lips.

  3. Thanks for the replies.

The rear window is in the stock location. I cut 4 inches out of the c pillar area, and sunk the rear of the roof down. some of my earlier posts show the process really well.

I don't know how much more I'll get done on the car this summer. I'm feeling a bit burnt out at the moment. I Just want to drive it for a bit. ha ha.

These are the colors I'd been thinking of before I settled on gloss black and copper.
    Candy red and gold accents
Blood red (maroon) metallic and gold accents
    Washington blue and cream accents
    Midnight blue and copper accents
Sam Barris green and gold accents

I'll probably decide at the paint store, but I'm leaning toward the reds....

If you want to "shorten" a car, paint it black or a dark color...ifyou want to "close" up an interior so it looks smaller, choose dark material...

If you want to "lengthen" a car, paint it a light color...if you want to show off body lines, paint it a light color...if you want to stay cool in the summertime, and "open" up the interior, choose a light colored material...

How about a nice bright green?

  9. ah hell, I'll play too.....;)

Beige pearl with oxblood accents ....no? okay:eek:.......but no matter WHAT colors you choose, it's still a flowing work of art.

  10. Did you put more spring back in the front?

Really nice, Perfect proportions. You made that long greenhouse work !
When you have the time PM me some Hudson rocker panel tips. Mine are stock & full of filler for the present but I'll want to slick 'em up someday.
    Thanx.

  12. XLNT metalwork! BUT, I'm so fucking tired of the flat black (snooze, lacks imagination IMO). Come on man! You obviously have the skills to step it up a notch.

  13. I think black looks great, while you're doing the body. It should look AWSOME when you get around to painting it!!!

I actually kinda like how ir looks with the flat black, it will look even more bad ass with paint on it.

  15. Yep. It was too low for my taste. I had cut 2 coils out of the Merc springs, but the weight of the 460/c6 collapsed them too much. so I bought new coils, and cut 1 coil out. perfect.

you still coming out for the "world famous swindlers world famous poker run GKY"???

  16. Yep. me too. It's only sealer at this point. I'm going to start on the real bodywork soon. Trust me, the car will NOT be flat black for long.

  17. Yep, for sure. I'm gonna bring my roadster, if can ever figure out the carbs. It's like two weeks before my wifes due date, so we'll be cutting it close, but we'll be there. I guess I better start working on another poster. I think flat black is trad.

  18. COOL! It's well deserving of much more. Like I said, XLNT work!

Its too bad there isn't much stainless to break up a 3 tone scheme. I'm thinking something like a brandywine, champagne, and salmon or pearl white or silver pearl. Is that too tacky? Because it sounds good in my head.....just can't quite picture it.

  23. It's getting 52 Hudson stainless side trim along the body line in the middle of the car. i had thought about a 2 tone, but...

Thanks Keith for posting this thread! I love fifties customs in bare metal! You have come a long way with the car, I see lots of hours there. Dig the grill and the opening. Dig the way how you managed to keep the "early fifties" look. Can't wait seeing the car finished.

yup, thats what I was thinkin, I was thinking about going with that color on my truck till I decided to go with porn star pink.

Naw not really (about the green part):D

  27. Thanks Mika. wish you were here to see it. You gonna make a trip across the pond soon? I'll be in London UK in September, but Finland will have to wait till another year...

I got the window stainless cut and put on the car tonight. it's not welded yet, I'm just using extra trim clips from my parts car. Tomorrow I'm gonna put some insulation on the inside of the roof. Hopefully that'll cut down on the "convection oven" feel the car has right now.

Driving it down to Seattle for the Dice party this weekend.

I think the roofline is perfect. Your car just keeps getting better and better. I'd paint it some sort of trick candy color to match the extensive work done on the body..just my opinion... Mike
