I'm pretty sure this engine has been shown from different views and not sure of the maker, but the mechanics of the design is so cool.
Mitchell Crankless Engine... Strapped into a 1921 Buick for testing. Two pistons and a... thingie. Five cylinder version from 1927.
Re: 1903 Premier The "flying buttresses" that hold the jugs to the bottom end are an exquisite work of Renaissance artwork if you ask me. I've seen a Model T OHC conversion with bevel gear cam drive done in house. And I always thought the guys at Ford thought that up in the '20s. Mayhabst they were merely copying the Premier engine of a couple decades previous?
The compressor looks almost as big as the engine. I wonder how much extra power it provided over a N/A version.
Evidently Jaguar doesn't worry about 1/10th Litre. I'm just going by the casting on the block. Yes it is a 3.4L
It's actually sound heat sink design. Heat radiates into each quill, then air traveling past it draws the heat away. As to what's inside the engine and how it creates mechanical energy, who knows??
THREE crankshafts. Brings to mind that adage: If some is 'good' And more is 'better' Then too much is 'just enough'
