I just picked up this grill shell but I have no idea what it is. It is built like a tank but it is cool. I am going to section it down for my 34 Ford Pickup. Does anyone have an idea of what it is off of or what it is?

setting it next to that deuce shell really gives us some perspective - I agree with the supposition that it's likely off of a larger OTR rig of some kind

  5. Could it be the elusive grill of the '48 Subaru???????

I am guessing that it is off of a bigger truck not a tractor. If it is off of a tractor there is no way I can let myself put that on my 34. I have never seen a tractor witht that kind of grill though so I am back to it being off of a large truck of some sort. Thanks for the comments. '48 Subaru is sounding right to me, they are hard to come across.

That is one King size grille shell......It probably weighs more than a 48 subaru....it should work good on your pickup once you get it cut down to size....

  8. Any chance it's from an old Lincoln?

Reo or Diamond T tractor are also possible. And for you tractor haters, add a trailer and call it a truck or a semi.

  10. The place at the top for the emblem would be oval if it was a Lincoln and diamond shape for the D-T. I did a bunch of Google Images for all kinds of '32-'34 truck names and didn't come up with anything close.

  13. I was going to say Kenworth, Just don't have any pics of one that is early enough. I think that the shape of the grill is very similar to the later shells, and the logo is round.

The Ford Firetruck looks close but there is no mounting holes on the top for any trim. I still am not sure but it is a big bastard.

Nope. Still looking once in awhile just for fun but I am going to section it down to fit my 34 here soon any way so it may be a mystery for good. It is a wild grill shell.
