  1. I'm afraid the sound will be too loud to actually drive even a short distance.

I've got a baffle for each port and some metal angles IMG_6357.JPG IMG_6358.JPG IMG_6359.JPG IMG_2035.JPG IMG_2037.JPG to bounce the sound waves around inside the chamber. Hopefully it won't be too loud.

Those pipes look good but they are going to get that paint dirty... You have a great looking car...

Only having the Rod on the road for a short period of time and I had to rethink the exhaust. Too loud and not even a nice loud... Cut the top off and added some deflectors and some stainless steel pot scrubbers in each chamber seems to have helped with the noise problem. Tidied up a few other details to get it sorted. From my experience stainless pot scrubbers in headers don’t last long at all and blow out. Very cool car.

Small details. Cut 2 1/4" off shifter handle. So much less flex and ball is placed in proper position and throw is comfortably less. IMG_7828.JPG IMG_7829.JPG IMG_7830.JPG

My temp gauge kept spiking from 180 to 210, 220 degrees with my 180 degree thermostat. I finally added a bypass hose like I should have in the first place. I also added a 160 thermostat and the temperature stays right at 170 degrees and doesn't move past now. It's not pretty but it works IMG_7894.JPG IMG_7893.JPG IMG_7897.JPG IMG_7895.JPG ...

Where does the bypass route to? I see it coming out of the water pump, but I can’t tell where it goes to from there.

There is a 3/4" NPT hole for optional temperature sending unit between the #6 & 8 cylinder. Don't know why there is such a huge difference for cooling but hat's how I'll run it with the Zip's water pump riser...

Zips riser blocks the standard sbc bypass hole (see pic), so you need to ‘invent’ a bypass or follow the instructions that came with your zips riser and do what you have done.
Some get by without a bypass, but best to heed the good folks/engineers at Chevrolet that felt a bypass was necessary. That and the added air bleed, will see you much happier with your cooling system.
