Chuck Davidson dropped off this pic he found and said it was after billy swapped engines at one point- added the rear slots and slicks and had just fired this engine up and drove it to his house after pulling it and dropping it in that day-
    wedge channel-
early 371 with a four barrel in this pic-
    Circa Early 1970's.

Not sure how many olds motors they went through but chuck thought he bought it out of the twin cities running one of the what he called the "smaller olds" motors originally - my guess a 303/324-

We can rule out model a frame... close up it looks like there might be a reveal- chuck thought he remembered it on deuce rails- billy couldn't remember -

This is before the Minnesota dragways decal-

Reminds me of a bull dog- dig the way it sits-

    Street Fighter!

I have most of the stuff to do a REAL accurate 'fake" '57 270hp/283, I can hardly wait to build a car around it, just so I can stand back and listen to the "rod-a-billys" say " aw, its not a real traditional hot rod, its just another belly-button small-block".
    I love built-in idiot detectors...:D

Finally got a chance to read through this, bitchin car and story. LOVE the cycle fenders/channel/full wheel cover plan. I have a bit of a fetish, haha

That doesn't look like a deuce rail side, to me. Looks like they're running some flexible exhaust tubing on the side of the rail.

Yeah that's a exhaust pipe- behind where the pipe ends... looks like a reveal but who knows- @-Brent-

I'm gonna build it on 32 rails- I found a pair here locally from my buddy Joel- The brackets match the width of the deuce frame I have in the shop.

    Here's the donar drive train-

So come on and bring your juke box money! Man if that motor used to move that whale it aught to move that coupe along just fine!

I meant the olds steering wheel could be cool in there, but I think I've seen it done. Do you know what it ran through most of its tenure?

I see there's not a lot of wear on the pedals,
and no power steering, at least not in place, hard to imagine a barge like that without it..

I didn't look at the odometer- it's at my buddy's place. I asked him to look- guessing by pedal wear it can't be that bad-

the car has lots of clues to it's past, the pads are just a little one,
the two forward head bolts on the driver's side are where the power steering bracket would mount,
if it ever had power steering the whole setup was removed long ago.
The floor rusted through, the layer of rust on everything under the hood, the snow tire on front,
the primer on hood and fenders all make it look like it someone gave it a little attention
and then it sat for a long time,
but no dirt on the frame and if it rolled up on the trailer the drums weren't in the dirt..
why was the drive shaft pulled? was it stuck in gear with frozen engine?

man I would have snapped that car up in an instant

here's couple of my stick Olds engines as they looked on the days I brought them home,

    a '58 371 I pulled from an 88 two door,
and a '59 371 that came from a station wagon
