Technical Undersize Rod and Main Bearings for Flathead Ford

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by 57chevywagonman, Dec 1, 2011.

  1. I am pretty far along at tearing down my 8BA Flathead. The motor has been rebuilt at least once. The con rods are all stamped, the pistons are .040 over and the rod bearings are marked .030 under. I still have to jerk the mains and get the crank and oil pump out. My question is how much under can I go on the rods and mains before I need to find another crank or have this one built up an reground?

    Thanks in advance!

  4. After cleaning up the journals a little more and taking a micrometer to them I found out all I need is a new set of .030 under bearings. Just going to hit it with a little crocus cloth.
