Here it is..
Jim Smith when he worked at Uncle Daniels.
Les Stephens checking out their chassis work.
Does anyone recognize the '32 coupe?
Got this picture from Collin.
Uncle Daniel, ? , Collin Casey,Charlie Casey
The roadster Dan is building is a recreation of the car that was the 1952 Texas champion.
Hey theres Monty Detmer
Talked to Gene today, Looks like he is coming out to the Texas Nostalgia Nationals next weekend
Awesome shot - thanks Tim. Uncle Daniel ain't changed a bit, and the little blond kid looks as to be still wet behind the ears. God bless him.
i don't think anyone mentioned it, but the truck in the picture was gene's. i got my coupe from uncle daniel back in '87.
Tell Arlyn that a guy he painted a '55 Chevy from Paris,Tenn. says hello. Arlyn was in Indiana at the time. I still have the car.
that's jim smith, not monte. it looks a little like monte does now, but not back in the 70's.
I know this is bringing up an old thread but I just found it and wanted to comment.
Gene did some work on my 40 coupe back in the mid 80's. I used to spend some time at Gene's shop in Dallas. Used to watch Ronnie jig up some chassis. Bought some coil overs from Dan Evans for my 34 chevy once I recall. I have wondered what Gene was up to these days. I am glad I found this thread. I hope everyone is well.
I own the Uncle Daniels original sign. Uncle Dan is a good man
Here is one of Uncle Daniels builds as it looks today. Owned by Charlie Duran. It ran at Caddo in the mid 50's too and looked just as nice.
They did some work on a 36 I had years ago. I have some parts of a pretty wild VW Arlen built back in the 70-80s.It had a whale tail like a Porsche, wide fenders, had three different colors on the paint job.
Back up for a old post, I ran in to Uncle Daniel at the swap meet, just happen to have this plate under the floormat, so I gave it to him, Im the caretaker of Collins old car..
Was this a medium dark blue metallic color? Sectioned and chopped and smooth? If so, I think I got a good shot of it during the Troop Support Parade we put on Downtown from City Hall to Fender's. Remember that? I'll start looking for the pic, in case. Buster Powers used to see Arlen frequently.
HI Rob..keep looking for that photo. We all would like to see it...
Is this the one? Wildest Chev I remembered. Sorry for the damaged pics. Click on to see, I hope.
Is that the Chev you were thinking about??
Rob, I remember that Chev..Spanish dude owned it...and built it..I'm too old to remember his name...
So that's NOT the one Arlen built? OK
Yep.. Just a nice ol' A model like your Uncle Daniel had. That and "plain pipe racks".
