Yeah, can you imagine driving that in the Texas sun?
Beautiful car but too big for a bubble top. The El Caminos had a great roof

I saw that El Camino at a car show at the Saginaw Fairgrounds in the 70s. Neat rig.

I was at Tom's shop a couple years back...he still has the molds for the bubbles, with an extra pair of bubbles still in them, behind his shop!

W:eek:W, that's one radical custom and the fact that it was "new" when he started the hack job is double W:eek:W. C:cool::cool:L!

I think these 'bubble' cars are interesting...but, with no windows, and that exposed area above the head....that thing would get hot real fast!!!

  12. That's for drawing a crowd and for looking at., not for driving.

The loss of the original paint job to the flat black is a damn shame. Awesome that it still exists though. If it were mine Id be wet sanding it back to see if the original was under there.

  19. It's neat that it survived.
While I'm a fan of radical Kustoms, the first version is cool, but the acid inspired psychedelic paint version didn't do much for me.
The Matt black version seems a little sad, but it's only paint, the cool thing is it still lives.

I thought this was gonna be a thread showing several elcaminos at first, That is definitely a wild one.
I would like to see a thread dedicated to elcaminos ,rancheros and any other factory or custom, car/truck/ute but
I cant say I have ever been a huge fan of em, tho I do like em ok, just not a big enough fan to start a thread on em since Ive never even owned one myself. Any owners or fans interested in starting one? I think it would be a hit....if it hasnt already been done, I couldnt find one.

  21. ^^^ there is a Ranchero thread, and also a Ute thread, but I'm not sure I've seen a combined one.

We're all entitled to our opinions, some just seem to be rude for the sake of disdain. Having the ability to do several auto related tasks I can appreciate the vision, the talent and sheer dedication to this creation. It may not be for me in a few ways but it rocks none the less. That era walked a thin rail between hit or miss, and some of the misses were just awful from any view point. This one was a hit for sure. As to the later acid trip paint design, even that was kool and took a lot of work but it was the wrong car to put it on. As always Joey, thanks a bunch. Kool stuff man...

  27. Not sure AC would help, if that car was driven around in the TX sun. Reminds me of a kid incinerating ants with a magnifying glass.

Also I like the pic with the two Robert Plants checking the car out. Not enough dudes rocking super tight bell bottom jeans, no shirt and long feathered hair at car shows these days. But in 40 years there's going to be some laughing at us for sure.

  28. Is that a 4 seater?
I wanna see 4 people in there sitting flat on the floor.
How about someone seated in the driving position , is that seat back at about mid door ?

The sad part is it takes just as much time and money to build an ugly car as it takes to build something good looking.
