Black Top. Interesting bits about the movie here; http://theselvedgeyard.wordpress.com/
Thanks for that - the running commentary that is on the Criterion disc is full of a LOT of great info if you are into listening to the director talk while watching the film......
That opening scene was filmed WITHOUT any permits from the city of LA - that was REAL street racing and they had been trying to get "in" for months when they finally got the call to be there at certain time.
Two Lane Blacktop will be shown at the Rt. 61 Drive In April 30, 2011 Only 300 cars are allowed in.
Should be a good time!
Still a favorite-
The selvedge yard is an interesting link.
There's also a riff about Johnny and Edgar Winter. In the late 60's -early 70's Johnny Winter used to perform in Ft Worth at venues that are long gone today. His brother once appeared with him as a guest (before he was popularized by "Frankenstein") and they put on a very good Blues performance.
Man did they glow under a Black Light :0
Happened to see this the other day - I'm not involved, but thought I would pass it on for anyone in the central IL area (or beyond if you're looking for something to do). I'm not sure how they are going to present the movie, since it's in a parking lot... but should be interesting none the less.
