Well the wife and I attended our first Round Up last weekend and had a blast. The people of Texas were super nice the weather was great and the show and everything surrounding it was fantastic. We flew into Dallas on Thursday from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada rented a car and drove down to Austin on Friday. This is brief recap of our trip. Flying into Dallas.. We stayed the night in Dallas and drove down to Austin Friday morning. We swung by Elm Street on our way out of town. At the time we were not sure what was going on here but we found out later stay tuned.. Texas has A LOT of water towers
Had heard that Czeck Stop was the place to stop on the way. It was! Austin. Congress Friday Afternoon
We walked Congress for a while and stopped at The Continetial Club for a drink and watched a couple of bands. We were getting hungry so we walked up the street to Home Slice!!! Waiting in line. Got dark and busy quick. We decided to go back to The Continential Club. And that was the end of Friday.
Saturday Morning we got up and headed to the show. Mini bike races. Only watched for a while and we were in a bad place for pictures as the light was shining right towrds us but man it was fun to watch. Staging A little dark but you get the idea.
There are a ton of other threads with great car pictures and I don't have the patience to wait while 10 different people walk in front of me while I try to take them so here are a few of my favorites. Gene's Truck. Cannot be believed unless seen in person. Flawless. Acme Speed Shop. If you look really close there is someone famous in the background of this shot. Thought this was kind of Canadian appropriate although I don't think that was what the owner was thinking Mcphails One of Bass's masterpieces.
Some projects in the shop. Sadly on Sunday we had to get up and fly home (nightmare flights) so we left the party about 11:00. As I mentioned we both had a great time and got to meet some people from the HAMB at the meet and greet. We will definitley be trying to come back again next year. Oh and that earlier shot that I mentioned we didn't know what was going on well here is the after shot on Sunday.
HAHA. We had no idea what was going on when we first drove by. It almost looked like they were building a new stadium. On the way back to the airport on Sunday there were 20-30 cars pulled off the side of the freeway a guys up on a dirt birm as we drove by we realized what had happened.
They blew it up Friday morning around 7:00 I think. I was getting ready to head out and missed it. Great shots btw! I can drive from here to my parents place, about 7 miles, and see no less than 5 water towers.
I don't think so. I didn't even see the guy when we walked in but I had the exact same reaction when I first saw the picture. It was great meeting you and your girlfriend as well Bill! I am going to have to dial up some of those sweet Moonlight Customs shirts.
Thank you for these pictures. I always wondered what Austin looks like. I liked your captions too. "Saturday night we went to the A.S.S. party again had a great time" sure has a different meaning here in California........
If your coming to Texas this was the weekend to come see.... Seeing and hearing the BOOMs when they took Texas Stadium down at 7am Sunday morning was a sad day for me. Wished I could have met ya'll
This Guy is CLASSIC!!!! I don't know if he really likes it, or wants to know what the hell he ordered.lol
The guy on the left is the HAMB's own "Buddy Holly". Got the chance to meet him and his gal at Ski Shores on Sunday.
