I know theres been lots of discussion about Jay and the big dog garage on here, anybody see this yet? http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/ new NBC show? im not a tonight show watcher so im not sure, i found it on the NBC.com website while looking up "My name is Earl..."
I think it's more of a side project- THOUGH, HAMBers be sure to post a pic of your cars. I posted mine and somebody said "Hopped up four? Now THAT's funny" Think they need a lesson on cool cars over there..........
I was there when he took delivery of that blue Cobra....Was out on Michigan Ave. melting the hides like anyone else
I've bumped into Jay at that bookstore in Burbank on Magnolia and at Bob's in Tuluca Lake too. The guy is super nice and never turns anyone one down that goes up to talk to him. Jay, if you read this, you da man! When are ya gonna get a rat rod in that there garage of yours? KNUX!
Nice shop. Jay has a beautiful collection. I looked for more photos of that 51 Hudson that is on the first page of the link posted...to no avail..
I've got no interest. He seems like a nice enough guy... and doesn't spend his fortune on muscle cars... and steam is cool.
I think a guy like Leno might actually like it on here. He could post under whatever name he wanted, and wouldn't have that celebrity BS getting in the way of enjoying his hobby. Hell, he could talk about his collection by posting as a Big Dog Garage employee. You know on second thought, I don't think anybody here would care if he was Jay Leno or not. Somebody needs to get him on here. ~Jason
He is on here, but luckely he is not using his real name. Jessy James made that mistake and now he's over it, because of a handfull of idiots who are just star struck and don't get it.
My wife & daughters had a tour of Jay's Garage, there is more automotive wall art out there than most people know about. Hope to get out there myself some day.
I have the My Classic Car dvd collection and they have a disc with just Jay on it and that man knows his stuff! He not only has neat cars, he knows how they work and all the small details that most would over look. I'd love to spend a day in his garage talking with the man.
Jay donated a grand to our Great Race high school team that we bought tires for our Model A speester with, if he had a show about his garage, I'd watch it. They build and restore some cool shit in there. That's damn cool if he is a HAMB member.
I too was invited to tour Jay's garage last fall. I took a ton of photos of not only the cars and motorcycles but the artwork as well. If you come over on Sunday Dec 10 to help stuff the calendars I'll play a CD of the photos on the big screen. We we're asked not to post the photos on the internet.
Ya just gotta appreciate a guy that makes a jillion dollars a year that loves to pull on some coveralls and get greasy - I think Leno's first and foremost a "car guy" - everything else he does is just "goin' to work" like the rest of us schlubs - 'cept for the tax bracket thingie of course. dj
I saw the episode of Home Improvement they filmed at Jays place again the other day....Jay playing the 'keeper of the collection' Funny guy, great cars....
I don't know about the exact one your mentioning but most of those are hand painted copies of the originals that Jay had the artists at the NBC studios do for him. They are done in an exact size to fit an exact location that Jay wants it hung.
