1. If a Turbo 400 is sitting on the shop floor and you shift the thing by hand, how many detent positions should there be? This one has Park and only two other positions. 2. If the vacuum line falls off a running Turbo 400 will it simply not kick down and will you be able to shift it manually?
There should be park, reverse, neutral, drive, second, and low. That's....six? The vacuum line falling off will make it shift late.
yes, it has an electric kickdown. But it will also part throttle kick down at low rpm if the vacuum drops enough..
Something ain't right. I can definitely feel park but only two other positions. I thought to my self "well maybe vacuum has to bee hooked up or something". This was supposed to be a fresh rebuild, but rumor has it that the guy who did it is a great trans guy WHEN HE ISN'T SMOKING CRACK!
There should definitely be six detente and yes the kick down is electric but will down shift because of vacuum loss at full throttle
Better drop the pan like Jim says. I bet when you get the pan off you will see why you don't have six positions on the detent lever. I hope. Lippy
I think I'm going to have someone go through this tranny again. I have no confidence in the crackhead that put it together.
Just like a crackhead, only two speeds, high and low. Pull the pan, might be as simple as the detent spring.
