It depends on at what point you draw a line in the sand and declare everything after as too new. The first productioin turbocharged cars(Corvair and Olds Jetfire) were introduced in 1962, which is the same era as the '63 Tempest in the videos. Working with production parts a turbocharged Tempest could have been built in 1962.

with out a doubt impressive, but unfortunately, if I close my eyes, it sounds like a honda.

But the guy has vision , got to give him that, and I bet it gives a few 8's a scare.

It is a vintage ripper that is in the grey area (modern turbo set-up), tough call. That commentator has GOT to be Jersey.

    Love it!

Old clunker, sounding just like any other olf clunker 4 banger pulls up at the lights next to some flash new BMW or whatever...

    Blam, you're toast!

Now if they can just find a smaller, ligther olf body to put that engine in...

    Cheers, Glen.

  15. Then don't look! nobody twisting your finger. Never understood why someone looks at (opens thread) something they don't like then complains, close it and move on.

Uh I think he was talking 8 cylinder engines

Very cool how much turbo tech has improved, dont see any turbo lag there!

  18. Ignore the negative comments, that's HAMB friendly and very cool. As soon as the first video started I said to myself, this isn't Phoenix no way, then the guy started talking and I noticed the New Yawk plates, that car is awesome - FAUGETABOUTIT!

  19. Feed me Model A's til I puke! Anyway, that is very cool. The verbal audio at the end of the 2nd vid is LOL, spit some coffee out, awesome!

Im thinkin throw a cage in the thing & air dam on the front and
take that thing to the ohio mile or to bonneville

wayyy cool in my book traditional car & engine built with todays techonology

gee isnt that what they did in the late 50's and early 60's

once the overhead valve engines came out no one used flat heads

    they moved on !

From what I understand,,,the boost is now up around 25 pounds & is around 700hp out of a 200 CI 4 cyl. motor. Half of a Pontiac 389!! Think if he had all the motor in there!!!!!!!!!!
Car was put together with a 5 speed but has been changed over to an automatic. Currently getting a new converter better suited to the setup. Several of these burnouts was at 1/4 throttle with the secondaries on the carb disconnected!!

  27. I think this is awesome. The motor sounds cool at idle.

  28. ...and with that 4, you don't have to cram in the turbo, there's plenty of room for that.

He also built a turbocharged Corvair before Chev did. But then he never was a "traditional" kind of guy.
