Wow...enjoyed that track years ago. It was very hands off at the time. Cool little track in my opinion.

From what I hear, the "Duck Drags" might be the last race ever.
You better get down here for it.

I also heard from Ace last night that they can't blast there because of its proximity to the airport. ???
    I heard a batch plant...concrete or asphalt.

  13. I've heard a rock quarry this morning. I figure Crab is probably right, since blasting that close to the airport approach would be problematic.

Sad to see...there has been some history made there. At least Oklahoma has two dragstrips left - Noble and Ardmore. What a shame about Tulsa.

Dammit that sucks, that's the first strip that I ever made a pass down years ago. Lots of drag history there and lots of memories for me. Sad news.

  15. That's where I made my first ever pass as well, at the midnight drags in '95. Too bad.

I made my first "pass" there as well, only mine was in the back seat of a friends 70 Cutlass.

  19. We were at Tulsa Drags one Saturday for the Midnite Drags and several folks were uh, gambling lets say and the Tulsa police rolled up with helicopter to stop the brawl it turned into! I also remember going there in the late 70s early 80s for the AHRA racing, saw Don Garlits there, Shirley Muldowney, all the big names. I also remember at one of these races a T/F engine popped on the big end and we heard a whistleling noise and saw a piece land and we all took off running to get the souvineir and not thinking of the hot engine heat factor, I burned the sh!t outta my hand! Good times...

I to spent many friday nights there in the late 70's early 80's.
Lots of good memories there and one bad one where I ended up totalling out a Mustang GT leaving the track at 1 in the morning in 86.
    Sad to see it go.

I want to attend the Duck event. Can't get through to Duck Central. Any suggestions? Most Duck links are dead now. This strip was also my first place to drag race (not including the street's near Brookside).

What links are you referring? Everything should be up and running unless you are searching old MSN group links.

Damn, lots of history there. Used to run there in the early 80's when Prichard? had it. Watched him clothsline some idiot running a dirt bike in the pits the second time he was told to slow down. Great memories there. Like flat towing my V8vega wagon there and some shit stealing my tow bar. Had to drive it home. Last time I was there (Donald I think you were there too) when John Barret ran Troy Green and dumped a full load of nitro trying to beat him. Grenaded the motor on the start. Damn.

Any know what the next owners have planned?

I think the next owners plan to run some diggers there.

Yeah, it sounds like the pits will become a pit. Sadly, I haven't been back there for a few years, sounds like I need to make one last pilgrimage.

I raced there last month during the Nitro Nat'ls. Had a great time, and was looking forward to going back next year. Oh well...

Any pix of yesteryear of this place? Keep this one up every now and then. Seen enough GG threads to last a year or so.
