Perfect. Thanks Fritz. I had cut mine out completely and hammered smooth after welding a replacement strip in it's place. I actually overlooked what you used in your pics (J channel for a drip rail).....duhh. For some reason I thought you had welded in a raised piece to continue the "ridge" in place of the old slotted strip you removed. Sorry for the confusion.

Yours is really looking good. Keep up the great work.

    what diff are you using?

  3. It's a 28 spline 9" with 4:10 gears and posi. I got a good deal on the third member, it's all rebuilt with new gears, bearings, etc.

Great build! You are really getting me pumped up to get going on my 30 4rd sedan build. I will be using a lot of your ideas on channeling the body. I am going to try to save space for the rear seat, so it will not sit quite as low as yours. Here is what I have to start with. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1388325612.445472.jpg

  5. Thank you, looks like you got a nice car to start with there. I've been block sanding body filler for a few weeks now, so no good pictures to post now.

  6. Still doing bodywork, I'm more than half done with it tho. I did finish up the metal work on the windshield frame. I ground and polished it and the brake and clutch pedals. I'm gonna drop them off at the chrome platers tomorrow. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1391188408.730941.jpg

  7. I primed the body last night. It looks really straight I'm pretty happy the way it's coming out so far. I still have to finish the right door and the dashboard tho. I'll bock sand it all down reprime, block some more then it'll be ready for some of that shiny stuff. 8. Brought it back home to start the endless process of blocking. I'm gonna need shoulder replacement by the time I'm done with this thing ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1394333863.386783.jpg

  11. The body and doors are all primed. The only thing left to do is finish the dash. I still had to finish up the mock up of the dash with all the switches and stuff. I added turn signal indicator lights to the bottom corners by the cluster. The turn signal switch is on the bottom of the dash to the left of the column. I put the starter button in the stock location. I'm still waiting for the ignition switch and head light switch to come in. They will be mounted below the speaker grille. 12. I mounted the tach to the steering column today too. I welded a piece of round bar that I drilled out to the column as a mount. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1395600535.143932.jpg

  13. I filled the notch in the bottom of the dash since the column I made didn't line up with it anyway. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1395600778.284333.jpg

Great idea with the tach mount.

  16. Thank you guys.

  17. A month or two ago I sent my instrument cluster to Bob's Speedometer. I wanted it to look stock but I wanted the gauges updated and more accurate.

They replace the four gauges with electronic ones. The amp gauge is now a volt gauge. Today I got it back, it turns out awesome. They sent all the sending units and a Cable X box to run the mechanical speedo on my electronic sender on the transmission. Very cool!! Was it a lot of dough??

  20. Wasn't too bad, it was $1150. That's to convert the four gauges to electronic, redo the face of all the gauges (any design you want), calibrate the speedo, new glass, rechrome the bezel, and all the sending units. The Cable X was another $300. I got a quote from Classic instruments they wanted $3400 to do the exact same thing. And they said it would take at least six months to do. It took Bob's two months to do it. I'm gonna send them the clock that goes in the glove box door to restore next.

  21. Those gauges turned out awesome, as rest of the build too. Thanks for sharing.

  22. Thank you, I finished up the dash this week. All the switches came in and I got them all mocked up. Body work is all done and I'm priming it right now ( killing time on the H.A.M.B. Between coats). ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1396120283.117155.jpg

  23. I was itching to get some paint on something. Since the dash was done I figured I'd paint it. Plus it will free up some space in the booth when I'm painting the body and the rest of the parts. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1396663157.744335.jpg
First coat of color ( looks darker in the picture than it really is).

  26. Looks smooth Fritz, do you really have your own paintbooth? Thats luxury...

  27. Very NICE JOB fritz. Nice color choice!

  28. Thank you, no it's not my booth. I do all the frame work and rebuild wrecks at a big collision shop. The shop is two miles from my house and I've worked there for 19 years now. My boss lets me use the booth and the shop when ever I want.

  29. Thanks, I'm pretty happy with the color. I know its a popular color ( Washington Blue) but I can't recall seeing too many cars around here that color. I think it should be a head turner.
