Congratulations to Mike Kerwin and Ryan Mapes for the spread in Street Rodder on their rides! Great work guys! Flat black and flatheads aren't the only way.

Might be interesting to see any other HAMB members cover cars.

Thanks Bill. With all the talk about Street Rodder magazine lately, I have to say it was a joy to deal with them. I really didn't know what to expect. We were with Tim Bernsau from Street Rodder Magazine two different days and he was great. He knew we were both HAMB members and he is one too. He really enjoys looking at the HAMB. He also said no one in his office has a problem with the HAMB. I know someone in the organization does. With all that said, I feel it is a great honor to be in the magizine. Especially with my friends Joe and Ryan Mapes.

Nice cars! I just finished framing the Picture of the Kerwin tudor before i saw this thread. I usually put all the build data on the cardboard backing of the picture so I can refer to it later. I was missing a couple of bits of data: What are the front and rear crossmembers in that rod? And does it use a ladder bar on the Ford rear end like the Mapes car does?

    Southfork,
The sedan has a flat front crossmember and a tube rear crossmember. The rear is a 1959 Ford with 1936 Ford truck radius rods. I also used a 1941 Ford spring in the rear. I am suprised at how well the car rides.

    Ron,
I can't go to the Round Up this year. Still thinking about Rodders Days here in Tucson. I need to get my house finished.

Thanks for the shout-out Bill! We were surprised as heck to get picked for a feature, let alone the cover, and as Mike said, working with Tim Bernsau was great. Hopefully Tim won't mind me posting a few pics of him working:

Wish Tim would take some "worms eye views" ala Rickman & Southard...
Street Rodder fell into a rut in the Pete & Jake's days, when everything had 4-bar and Mustang steering. (no need to look under!)
Never see the underpinnings any more, bad scene now that the cars are assuming their own identity once again!
I wanna see nylons and rod garters...

Two very nice Tucson cars from Mike and Ryan! I was pleased to see credit give to Peter Macy (Old Ford Store), Bill Ewing, Garth Bowie and Dennis Sheepstra for their contributions to these fine hot rods. These guys are all very talented Tucson folks who have all contributed greatly to the local hot rod scene.
