I sold the cab- and the box which didnt burn was going to my buddy in town... well i ended up with his cab and kept my box. So- the only thing from the truck pre fire is the box. :)

I got a chance to work on the truck this weekend- It was a little cold (-17F) today-

I finished welding the frame- (major stuff anyway)
Welded in the bungs and blended the welds on the bones-
drilled my axle and filled the ends-
the bed sills line right up with the holes-

Can't wait to get the front end mocked up- next I need to pull my spindles and backing plates etc.

then I'm going to finish going though my pedals and get the pedals bolted in-

I think I'm going to end up chroming the axle and bones- wasn't the plan at first but I think it would be rude to just paint this stuff...

    Tuck,
Your Roundup poster of the buckin' roadster is like my favorite Roundup poster of all time -- with the possible exception of Norwell's aerial view of SoCo. Let's call it a tie!

Glad to be able to check progress on your AV8 build. My own -- based on a `28 roadster is nearing completion -- and my hat's off to anyone who messes with the old stuff.

Thanks guys- this pickup has been a lot of fun-

@Garry Carter- thanks for the props on that art- :) I was honored to do it for ElJefe and crew- I love Austin Texas.

I was reflecting a lot over new years... and this little burst of production on the axle and stuff in my garage was so much fun... I felt like a kid bouncing around in there- no heat- didn't care- just bundled up and was having fun. Was thinking back to the very first axle I drilled- used my friends dads drill press... I remember buying my first industrial drill press- and now this one... which is pre-war 1941 era and SO COOL!!

I just wanted to say that I think about all of the support the HAMB has given me after the fire- its so awesome... I thank all of you guys- there isn't a day that goes by that I'm in my garage that I don't think of it... in a POSITIVE way-

A lot of things have happened in the last two years... and the fact that I'm a teacher- infecting the minds of kids with this stuff... makes it seem like it was all meant to be.

In a really good place right now.

    Happy New Year HAMB-
    Love you guys,
    Tuck

I think the fact that YOU are a teacher is the best thing to come from all you've been through.

Well, a nice girl, and a baby, and...

hahaha. it just keeps getting better, don't it?

Have you gotten to the firewall yet?...I'm going to be doing essentially the same setup on a 5W coupe this summer and I want to run a full hood without shoving the motor half a foot into the firewall, so I'm curious how far your firewall is getting moved...

Not yet- that part will have to wait until it starts to thaw. Its supposed to be -16 again here tomorrow....

I plan on removing the whole thing and then seeing where I'm at now that I have the chassis finished and the cab aligned. I thought about framing it up in tube and making an aluminum panel along with a wood backer and polish it/engine turn it? I dunno... I'm not a huge fan on reversed firewalls- it works I just don't like the look that much.

    Just a quick update-
Danielle and I had a healthy beautiful baby girl we named Maple Rae- :) I posted this in my roadster thread too- I'm just super proud :) my wife is amazing and so is Maple... :)

OK so back to hot rods.

    busted apart some front ends...
    have some 39 merc spindles-
glass beaded them and dropped the steering arms to clear the axle.
Beaded the drums/hubs and getting them turned.
the backing plates from the 46 axle are really nice- going to rebuild them and reline the shoes.

The 40 rear brakes are all new and ready to go-

Can't wait to get this stuff rebuilt and bolted to the axle!
