I wanted to say thanks for sharing this... Phenomenal work @Sandcrab. Im really curious about the lost foam. My next quest is to cast something with a core like a breather-

I shared pics of your mini sbc with some of my students and they were blown away. I can see how this path I’m on making parts is addictive. (Just like blowers/superchargers:D)

The only way mine shut off is to be doing something that needs all of my attention. Like pouring molted metal into a mold would do lol

    Glad to share Tuck.
One of the great things about lost foam is that you do not need cores because with proper vibration, the loose sand fills all the interior spaces and locks itself into that shape.
Explore the "lost foam" thread on The Home Foundry site for some amazing examples and great descriptions of the process.

This one’s a 33-6 axle (second one out of the jig)

Just wanted to share, here is a link to my axle jig-

This isn’t for this truck or any project… but I finished my drop axle jig tonight and dropped a $20 model an axle just for fun.

I have 20 in the axle, 40 in the spring, 50 in the brakes/drums/hubs and the perches and spindles I got for free!

I picked up a roadster cowl from Alchemy, I got stanchions from a buddy in Iola, got a windshield frame in Iola along with a solid cowl to use as patchwork for the roadster cowl.

I’m still waiting on brookville parts, back ordered until the end of September, almost a full year now.

    IMG_0306.jpeg
    IMG_0333.jpeg
got this intake for my shoebox convert- stoked about that.

We came back from Iola with my enclosed trailer on 3 wheels, blew a brake line on the van, the trailer brakes weren’t working. I freaked out and ended up fixing all of it.. all new lines on the van, new loaded backing plates and bearings on the trailer. I dismounted and blasted all of the rims- painting them and the fenders tomorrow. Took aluminum brightner to the trailer…. Got my 97 f250 on the road with new tires and brakes. Feeling good about all of that-

My buddy Dan Mueller passed six months ago from a brain tumor, Paperdog here on the Hamb. He kind of wedged his foot in the door of my life about ten years back and had me laughing ever since. Dan was one of the funniest guys I’ve ever known. He was also so supportive before, during and after my divorce. I always kind of figured he had been through some shit in his life because humor can often be a way to cope. Talking to Nadine it sounds like he went through something similar in his life…. We had a lot more in common than I thought.

Nadine willed me Dans 32 3 window project. It’s a glass body on a pair of American stamping rails with some neat parts. psi rear radius rods, a neat 32 heavy drop axle, 32 bones, it’s got a mopar 8 3/4 rear. I’m still in shock, honored to have it… and I’m sure Dan would be smiling that Its in my shop, Im so grateful. It means a lot to me.

I found dans old Hamb post when he first got it almost 20 years ago at one of the first roadster swaps. It was on a finished full fenders chassis painted bright red. The guy sold Dan just the body. Nadine gave him the nudge to buy it or she said he would regret it, he pulled the trigger. The post has some guys kind of roasting it and some saying how bad ass it was.

I don’t have the connections or the money to buy a real 32 but I know exactly what I’m going to do with this car. I think it’s the most bad ass 32 ever because of where it came from.

I remember having my 34 coupe and being afraid to really do what I wanted… and I sold it without ever doing any of those things. This one I’m not afraid of and mostly just excited to transform it into the vision in my head.

Sorry I don’t have more progress to post- I’ve been working on me this summer more than the truck. I started going to the gym six days a week and transitioned away from a bunch of bad habits. It’s all been great… just nothing really hamb worthy except this stuff posted above.

  9. Tuck, so sorry to hear of your friends passing. Reminds me of the same thing that happened to me a year ago when my good friend Patrick passed suddenly. At least you have his hot rod which will serve as a great memory of him for years to come. What an honor!

Thanks man, and I agree @vtwhead it’s an honor,
-what it looked like when Dan found it at the swap. The doors have not been fitted yet. I finished a 32 glass Victoria for a guy in Rush City… in my experience you want to finished the chassis first, bolt down the body square up and then add reinforcement, and fit the doors when it’s secured.

I’m gonna name this car Cinderella, cue up your tape deck.

Been lurking around here for a long time, Tuck. I'm excited to see what you do with this one. Meanwhile, my car has been in pieces for a year or more and I'm slowly getting motivated to get it put back together.

Sorry to inform you Tuck, but the committee on the behalf of HAMB viewers has voted, and ruled the following:

"The aforementioned 'deuce coupe' will have to have another build thread started for the sole purpose of naming and henceforth building the vehicle brought into question"

Sorry man, rules is rules... :D:D:rolleyes:

If it’s called Cinderella, you’ll have to paint it orange (candy or big flake is fine) and wear glass Chucks when you drive it.

Good golly, It’s not like anyone needs another incredibly slow build thread from me.. :p haha... but I'll make one. Btw… it’s not a pumpkin @alchemy haha… more like the glass slipper, the rags to riches narrative where I turn this bitch into a princess for a night… this car might just get me laid.

Too bad. I was hoping it could be painted orange instead of pink. I like orange, but seems not many other people do.

Jeez all those cars look so good under the street light. Was that just a regular night at the continental club? Or was there a special event?

I got the stanchions on the left for this project but then later found the one piece bronze brookville ones below. I like the look of the one piece stanchions so I’ll prob sell those other ones. The 28/9 orchard stanchions on the right I sold. I found one piece chopped and plated stanchions for my roadster.

    IMG_1034.jpeg
Bought two 4x6 sheets of 1/4 thick aluminum plate! I plan to use this for the firewall and polish it, and I’ll upgrade my thin wall firewall in my roadster to this thick stuff.

    IMG_1035.jpeg
These are the one piece ones, I’m going to weld studs on the back with silicon bronze so they’re Kustom and smooth since I’m using a commercial cowl which has hinges but is missing the part these would bolt too. I *might* chop them but it wouldn’t be much. I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to make this work but I though about making a male/female plug and weld the male plug to the stanchions and that would slide down in and bolt on the inside of the cowl below.

    IMG_1061.jpeg IMG_1033.jpeg

Put all new bearings, loaded back plates and blasted and painted all the crusty stuff on my trailer. I painted the wind jammer, fenders and tongue. POR’d under the fenders and drums. Hit the trailer with aluminum brightener so we should be ready to go for the pantowners swap this weekend. This thing is in way better shape than on our trip to Iola… I’m hoping to paint the galvanized roof with some roof paint today. .. oh and it’ll be my first trip with my F250 powerstroke. I bought this old farm truck from a guy who passed. It sat since 2016 so the fuel line orings dried up and it needed belts, tires, brake lines and filters. It’s been running GREAT. While I was down in Texas there was a Texas dept of transportation truck the same year as mine in a junk yard that was rust free and almost mint… I was like WTF haha… I wished I had gone down with a trailer I would’ve brought the entire truck home.

Got something at the swap today- the piece that goes under the windshield for the RPU, it’s a Steve’s auto restoration piece. Got the drums for the front of the 32 from Mark Webber. I didn’t really run around much. We had a blast-
