I saw this in the junk yard years ago. It called out to me..... buy me, buy me. So I did for $40.00, and hung it on my shop. So does anyone know what it's from? It would be cool to know, if someone can identify it. Thanks in advance !!
Let's try a rusty one without the bling - for sure it's a 1937 International D2 - a friend of mine had a panel van he used to bring over to my place regularly and I lusted after it....
After scrolling up and down 'till I got dizzy, they are not the same. For a minute I thought the 1st one could have been from an IHC big truck [6 groups of 5 slots V.S. 5 on the pickup] but nope, it's too different...close but different.
Upon much closer inspection you may be right Rocky - the International has five slots on the top group and then six for the next four groups and four on the bottom group - the plot thickens....
Top to Bottom - Slots - 5-5-5-5-5-5-2. That's 6 banks of 5, and 1 bank of 2. If that helps. Could if be from a "Commercial type truck", meaning, not a regular type pickup?
Looks more like an International Farmall tractor grille... and there are definitely 6 full panels coming down, with a more 'square' crown; Anyone notice the crank hole on the wall piece?
I'm coming up with nothing else except maybe there is an early and late International grille or they used different dies and stamped two different kinds? I can find nothing remotely similar on any other truck or car for that matter and Farmall grilles appear to be vertical, not sloped like the OP's with fender cutouts - big or small of that era, so I am out of ideas....
I think you got it. I was going to say roadgrader, but same as a tractor, both of those would not have that curve cut on the lower edge for a fender to fit into.
1937-1940 International D-50 and larger truck 2 ton and up. I have a NOS one like that. Much larger then the smaller pickup version.
^chicken dinner! Whew at least I got the 1937 International part right - thought I was losing my touch....
