After about 90 different ideas and versions, this is what we're gonna go with..... 56 plymouth bars, 55 plymouth center. and 56 buick bar above it all. the truck's stockturn signal housings will be fit in the lower corners under the plymouth grill. with perforated metal behind it all......
And thanks to Jeff Myers for putting up with me adding changes and rethinking design all through the truck during this build. what looks good on paper doesn't always translate to actual metal. It's fun to bend and shape metal, and then stand back about 20 feet and make sure it looks right. hands on is the only way to design!
up next is pulling the headlight eyebrows forward about an inch. filling the seams around the grill. rounding hood and door corners. molding the driprails. just a bunch of little stuff.......
That Buick piece is a '55........not '56.......just for reference.........the Plymouth pieces look great in that shell! Ray
Grille bar looks right at home in there. 57/58 Chrysler headlight bezels would fit right in, although that might be quite a bit more work than what you're planning.
After reading the mish mash of parts listed I thought, Ewwww. But it really does come together nicely. Great thinking out of the box. I dig it, but, I'm nobody
looks good, a buddy and I were talking about all the different stuff to make up a grill for one of our trucks. alot of real estate to work with there. Good job
Mcphail, i got a '58 and was thinking of the '62 chrysler new yorker grill/headlight set up, but like previously mentioned, theres alot of real estate up front on these. What rejected ideas hit the cutting room floor
Also i have been looking into how a 1955 oldsmobile grill bar would look. Obviously without the oldsmobile letters.
Looks awesome! I have one suggestion to add to the awesomeness: at the turn-downs under the headlights, can you reshape them to match the curvature of the stock grille recess? I think that'll make it look even more at home. Just a thought. Either way, it's hot!
