My truck dies or sputters anytime I brake hard, like it runs out of fuel. Im not sure what the problem is. Carb issues? Any ideas?

Got vacuum assisted brakes? Could be a leaking booster.

  3. Check your float level.

  4. could just be the float run some in the tank carb cleaner

I rather agree with Themoose in that I'd be checking the float level. If it is too low the low speed or idle circuit may be getting uncovered during hard braking if it only happens during hard braking.

  7. #1 sounds like a carburetor float problem causing flooding issues. Verify float level
#2 check also the attachment hardware on the carburetor , causing vacuum leaks, make sure the carburetor base and body are tight.
#3 I've seen a bad ignition switch causing the same symptoms, the guy had a huge wad of keys that acted like a pendulum, basically wore the switch out.
