I just changed my Flathead oil pan in my 47 rag because it was cracked. I’m getting it ready for the Nationals. I was all excited because I felt I did an excellent job. I even waited a while to start it, just to let the silicon dry. Now I'm getting a terrible noise from around the starter and ring gear. Please help I don’t want to take it down again...

I think the starter is rubbing something. The noise changes everytime I start it...

As said before, REMOVE the starter and take a peek. It's not hard to do. Only two bolts and a nut on the cable.
