No trucks and not the OD. What was the fist year for a true 4 speed in a Ford or Merc? Was that a toploader?
1961 my pops had a 61 starliner with a 352 four speed now I dont know if it was a dealer or Factory but I remember the car.
I believe it was 61' and they would have been BW t10..top loaders I think started in about 64 in the bigger engined cars and became used in all engines by 66'..
It became a dealer installed option in late '61, and an assembly line option in '62. My source is vintage HRMs, not the fact that the guy that sweeps up at the local porn shop says that his second cousin bought one new in '61.
1962 had the BW T-10; I would have to see documentation to buy the story that they were available during the '61 model year.
I had a 57 300 fairlane. 300 hp F-series supercharged 312. 4 speed 4.56 rear end. that ran in S/S class in 1960 and later A stock. looking back I can't believe no one ever protested the 4 gear My guess is 63 factory, but there were many leagal stockers before that
Late 1961 dealer installed,1962 assembley line...200% sure!!!!borg warner t-10,all iron case, narrow four bolt pattern to bellhousing.
