Theres been a lot of talk lately about the black walls and dog dish look on rods (all black) lately. If you look at pics from back in the day, there were actually customs around that ran blackwalls, but these days everything has wide whites. Anybody have any pics of customs done bare bones style. (murdered out as the "cool" people call it.)
Blackwalls look alright on 30s and 40s customs, because thats when they would have been used, due to war rationing.. on a 50s custom however, they'd just look wrong, since there was NO shortage of whitewalls in the 50s And they have to be bias ply...
Here is a great example of a early 40s custom. This custom looks like it rolled right out of 1941. Also not all customs back in the day were super low. Lots of them were these guys daily drivers. The murdered out term doesnt belong on this board. thats for modern cars.
