agree. your car is very minimalist and clean. the trim rings make the wheel look busy when compared to the rest of the car. go for the clean and simple look.

I like the rings but, I brought up the idea of rings on my car to an old timer once and he said you never run rings until the car is done, or at least has good paint on it. Seems pretty logical to me. So I vote yes, once it has been painted.

I feel the same way, thats why I made this pole! I think I will keep the rings off the car until its painted and do this again.

No voting on color, however I haven't made up my mind and I am open to ideas! Go to my build page and gimme sum!

Nix the rings. The golden tone of the Chinese stainless doesn't truly match the nice
    bright chrome spiders.

FIRST put a strip of masking tape around the inside of the wheel where the wheel rings lock in and this helps the ring get a bite without screwing up the paint or powder coat

Install the ribed rings and take a look--Really looks good on the old hot rods

    Hey Rob,
I say yes, with rings ...
I went with the rings with a 49-50's center cap.

Thanks on the advise on the wide wides a couple months back.

I'm with ya ratfink! Sorry it's still around, I can't figure out how to close it or delete it. The response was great and the majority was thinking the same as me. So the rings were installed and I LOVE the way they look. Thanks everyone for the input and opinions!

Well, I'd have voted for the rings if I'd seen this first time around. And it doesn't do any harm to see what the final outcome was on things like this - it's like those TV make-over programs where you never find out if the 'victim' actually kept whatever it was that was made-over, or if they ditched it as soon as the TV crew had gone.

    So, post a side view!

  29. I saw a set of 15" trim rings on a late 40's custom in Grand Haven CG show last week, they had ribbed lines on the inner half of the ring. He got them from Bob Drake parts, anyone have a pic of those on their car?
