As for the anxiety over what others have accomplished, we all started in the same place, and there is not a whole lot that separates any of us. We all learned (and are still learning, daily), and so can you.

Family first, then car. Put it aside if you need to. Read up, ask lots of questions, run stuff across the board before you do it. We can all help, or, a the very least keep you from making big mistakes. Take your time and do it right.

If it doesn't cost you $ to keep it (purchase loan to pay back or storage rent etc) then it doesn't matter if it takes a while to get it done. Time can make up for low funds - ie DIY that thing. It's amazing what can be done well for cheap. Go low-tech - ruff 'n ready to get it driving if that's what it takes. Help is always available - favors for favors too. Everyone needs a project!

  3. Take out the floor mats/ carpet so the floors don't rot, especially if it's stashed outside. Spray fish oil in sills etc. Sounds like your gonna possibly store the car- if so, do it carefully. I swear by good tarps- old ex-bitumen truck ones are excellent.
Try not to let the car go, but don't let it get between you & loved ones.
