Wow, shades of the late '60s. I really got a kick out of seeing cars done
up like that. They weren't just in HOT ROD and CAR CRAFT. They were
cruising the streets and drive-ins of Chicagoland.
One of my buddies had a '66 Belvedere and had the side of it webbed.
You know, those strings that were shot on pretty dry. Anyway, he'd
just had it shot but not cleared so it was rough. Some wiseass greaser
at Skip's Fiesta drive-in came up, rubbed his hand across the paint and
exclaimed loudly, "Hey man, someone puked on the side of your car",
leaving Tony standing there feeling like a chump. Wish I had a pic of
Chevy missed the boat in not matching the rear wheel openings to the
fronts on '55s. Oh yeah...just my opinion.
Couldn't agree with you more. I love seeing them with the '55 Nomad rear wheel openings.
