I have a local who wants to trade me his 57 210 2 door, 327 4 speed 3.23 for my 69 el Camino SS396. The trouble is that el Camino is such a nice car, it does everything well. 454, th400, 2:73 fully updated suspension but looks stock. It handles so nicely! It has a Lee 14:1 box with a 30 pound valve. It feels like a manual but is easy to park and turns so fast, like a well made go cart. I know I'll be sorry but I want to go thru this life with owning at least one 57 Chevy.. Two old cars are out of the question... I always wanted to own a 68 or 69 el Camino and a 57 210 two door, small block 4 speed with crazy low rear end gears..

My buddy had a white 57 Belair two door HT. It had a brand new Z-28 302, Muncie four speed 4:88 rear end. That 57 was gut flipping crazy fast..

If you do trade, at least you would have a car you could post pics of here, if that matters to you.... 5-7 chevies are great cars

    Do it.
I own both, and I can tell you you won't be sorry.
454, M22, 3.73s in my El. Great car, love it, but if I had to choose it would go.

Elcohaulic, DON'T DO IT! Hold onto that El Camino and I'd say that even
if it was a stocker with a 307. There'll always be another '57 Chevy, they
won't all be turned into gasser wannabes.

Now we need to see the 57 in question. To get you on topic. People discouraging you from getting a 57 Chevy.
On a Tri 5 thread! Lol

  14. My buddy had his 57 back to the chassis shop for a couple updates, that firewall is regular steel ( not stainless ) that he polished to that high luster.

  22. That's the break in motor, it'll get a blower motor once it's sorted out.

When I built the futurian, I did all my own pre plating polishing. somehow I forgot to get some of the carb linkage pcs plated and assembled it with some polished steel pcs. I left it at Starbirds museum for a year and when I went back to get it those pcs were solid rust. How is your buddy going to keep that firewall from rusting? Or is he going to have it chromed? Bitchin car by the way....

If this is the one I saw at pidgen forge a coulple of years ago , it was allsome . But got no notice from the judges. Guess it didn't have big enough wheels and sat to high.

  27. When I ask him he said that he waxed it, I ask if he thought that would seal out the rust and he said he hopes so because it was a pain in the ass to polish it and didn't want to have to keep doing it.
I thought Gibbs might protect it but I've never used that stuff personally.
